Decide and be consistent

Decide and be consistent

In the small rural school was a very old -fashioned coal stove . A little boy was assigned the task of getting to school early each day to start the fire and warm the room before they got their teacher and peers.

One morning I arrived to find the school in flames . They took the unconscious child more dead than alive in the building . He had severe burns on the lower half of his body and took him to the county hospital urgent .

In his bed , the boy horribly burned and semi-conscious , I heard the doctor talking to his mother. He said that his son would die surely it was the best that could happen, really - because the fire had destroyed the lower part of his body .
But the brave boy did not want to die. Decided to survive.

Somehow, much to the surprise of the doctor, she survived .

Once past the danger of death, he heard his mother and doctor talking slowly . Since the fire had damaged greatly lower extremities of his body, he told the doctor to the mother, would have been much better if I died , and he was sentenced to be invalid life without the ability to use his legs .
Again the boy made a courageous decision. It would not be an invalid.

Would walk . But unfortunately from the waist down, had no motor ability . Her slender legs hung lifeless.
Finally, he was discharged .

the

Every day his mother would massage his legs , but there was no feeling, no control, nothing .

However, his determination to walk was stronger than ever.

When he was not in bed, he was confined a wheelchair .
One sunny morning , the mother took him to the yard to get some fresh air.

That day instead of sitting there, he pulled the chair. He drove on the lawn dragging legs.

He reached the white picket fence surrounding the garden of his house. With great effort, he climbed the fence. There, post by post , began to advance along the fence, decided to walk.
He began to do the same thing every day until he made a small footprint along the fence. Wanted nothing more than pump up those legs .

Finally, thanks to the fervent prayers of his mother and his daily massages , his iron persistence and his resolute determination, developed the capacity to stand first , then walk and finally staggered walk alone and then run.
He started walking to school , then running for the sheer joy of running. Later, in college, he joined the race team on track.

And even then , at Madison Square Garden, this young man who had no hope of surviving , would never walk , she would never have the chance to run , this determined young man , Glenn Cunningham, became the American athlete whoran the kilometer fast the world !
